Stitch and Play May/June 2024
Stitch and Play is a process-oriented, workshop-style class in Portland, Maine where play, art, and life skills are combined into one fun experience. In this class children will learn the basics of sewing- threading needles, basic stitches, embroidery, and more, through developmentally appropriate activities in a safe and supervised environment. The goal of this class is for children to have fun dipping their toes into the world of fiber arts and will be a primarily process-oriented class, focusing on the experience of trying new things, playing around with materials, and developing skills. The class will use emergent curriculum principles to match each child where they are at and will adjust the activities based on their interests. This class is open to children aged 4-8. Children of all skill levels are welcome! The class is set up workshop style so children who are learning the basics of sewing can work alongside children who are working on more complicated projects.
